February 14. Valentine’s Day. Each year this ‘lovely holiday’ push you to be romantic and to buy chocolate, flowers and other overpriced red & pink crap. It’s one big commercialized, artificial scheme that (for me) just ain’t working. As you can see, I’ve never been a Valentine’s type of girl. Ironically, I’m very romantic and I really ‘looove’ love. But just not on a required date and time.
Although I’m a single girl, I’m not alone on Valentine’s Day. Or any other day, for that matter. I have ‘that special someone’ who gives me unconditional, timeless love and goosebumps 365 days a year, year after year.
T R A V E L !
The connection I’ve made with travel is magical, honest and pure. It’s probably the most reliable, spiritual and powerful relationship I’ll ever make. It’s hard to put in words all the emotions I have for ‘my soulmate’. Here are some of the reasons why TRAVEL is my Valentine:
1. Travel makes me feel alive and free
Watching the sunsets in Tanzania or Aurora dance in Lapland, meeting new people from all over the world, swimming with sharks in Cape Town or riding a camel in the Wadi Rum Desert, makes my heart beats faster. Like a roller coaster of happiness, excitement and adventure travel makes me feel alive and free.
2. Travel makes me a better person
I wouldn’t be the person I am today if I never traveled. Travel makes me see ‘the bigger picture’ and realized how my day to day problems really aren’t that much of a problem. Seeing how people live in Africa or Asia makes me realized how lucky I am and that we all need to help those who need it. Never close your eyes to a world that needs our help!
3. Travel will never disappoint me
Ok, there were a few moments when travel pissed me off a bit, but in general travel will always be there for me. It will never leave me or disappoint me. How could one be disappointed with paradise beach in the Maldives or sunrise over Himalaya?
4. Travel leaves me speechless
Paradise beaches, remote deserts, spectacular mountains, mind blowing waterfalls, historical wonders… there are so many ‘out of this world’ beautiful places on our planet that simply leave me with no other word than ‘WOW’!
Mr. Ibn Battuta said it right, “traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller”.
5. Travel is always interesting and exciting
I don’t remember any single time I was bored while travelling. It always surprises me with some new, spectacular places, interesting people or exciting adventures.
6. Travel is timeless and everlasting
You are simply never too old to travel. Or love, right? New adventure is waiting on the corner, you just have to step out of your comfort zone and embrace uncertain. Once you’ve done that you’ll be forever in love with travel. And travel will be there for you no matter what. This is kind of love that is unconditional, timeless and lasts forever like a journey with no end!
So Happy Valentine’s Day dear people! I hope you have by your side someone who makes you feel like travel makes me feel. If you have, then you’ll understand why I don’t give a damn about a February 14.
Thank you, dear travel for everything you’ve given me so far. You are my soulmate, my buddy, my companion, my Valentine, my EVERGLOW!
